Beyond Here

Winter this time has been uncommonly long, its still raining atleast once a week even now. A couple of weeks back though (seems like ages ago now), it was an exceptionally pleasant day. We decided to go to Crissy Field near Golden Gate bridge for a picnic with some friends. The beach and park area is right next to the bay and there are wonderful views of the bridge on a clear day. And since it was a warm balmy day, people were out and about - they were flying kites, sun-bathing, jogging, biking and just lazing about. Good fun - sun, nice views and company of friends - what more can one ask for! P.S. This is post no. 100. Almost 6 years, some on and off time on the blog but still counting... or should i say blogging. Not bad!

A few months ago, we went wine tasting with a couple of friends and came across this barn in front of one of the tasting rooms. In front of the barn was this very interesting "Official weather station"

We moved to the San Francisco area in August, and by the time we were all settled, the city was very cold. So at the first sight of pleasant weather, my husband dragged me to the city to explore -that was last weekend. The Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, Crooked Street were all visited by us before so Sunit insisted we doscover the quainter historical parts - we decided to visit Mission Dolores - the oldest structure in San Francisco. Much of the structure, though restored, still stands on the original adobe walls and looks like how it did when it was constructed in the eighteenth century. Here are some pictures from the trip. For the Christmas break in December, we were up in the Bay Area. Sunit's uncle-aunty had invited us all over for a family get together. After a few days of quality time with family we decided to drive back. And we decided to the drive along Pacific Highway 1 back to San Diego. We had been on Highway 1 a couple of years back. And we were excited to do it again. I was most excited about the prospect of visiting Monterey and the 17 mile drive once again (my third visit to the place) By paying a nominal $8 per vehicle, one can enter into this state park and drive along the curvy roads around some millionaire dollar homes that lead to some of the most amazing views of the Pacific coastline. Also visible from the drive is the famous Pebble Beach Golf Course. This particular day was a bit cloudy and a little chilly too. March 12th, 2005 We travelled to San Francisco, once we were done with Sunit's application process, then Rang Tarang and then a visit by Tripti and Amit (my sis and brother in law) all of which had kept us real busy. This was our first relaxing Saturday after a long long time. The Park itself is beautiful and a haven away from the chaos of San Francisco. Driving through San Francisco you can hardly imagine that such grounds are nestled right in the center of the city. It was cool and misty when we reached the park, raindrops suspended in the air, adding to its charm. Here are some pictures: A view of the Stow Lake from atop the Strawberry Hill which we hiked.
